Chelsea, a server in Midland, Michigan, shares a story with us involving her friend, also a server, and how ridiculous a customer acted when a glass of sweet tea was not to her liking. I’ve seen people overreact like this many times. There are just people out there who need attention and decided to exaggerate any situation in order to get said attention. Some people have motives involving trying to get free food, filing law suits, etc.

So a friend of mine that works with me, had the most ridiculous table ever last Sunday! For some weird reason, we had sweet tea in the pop gun and the little iced tea dispenser next to the pop machine. NO ONE decided to tell anyone this. Because we live in Michigan, and not the south, the only place you can get sweet tea in Michigan is at McDonalds! For some wierd reason there was a mix up in the Sysco order and we got a box of sweet tea instead of unsweet tea. Then, there are some people who are just awful practical jokers.

My friends table ordered an unsweetened tea and she got it for him thinking it was unsweetened. She was getting other drinks for another table when suddenly the other guy from her table started screaming, “WAITRESS WAITRESS!!! HELP OMG HELP!” She rushes over to her table to find the guy who had drank the tea making choking sounds and freaking out and then he fell off his chair right onto the floor. The other guy started screaming “CALL 911 CALL 911!!!” She was so scared and in shock and freaking out because she had no idea what was going on so our bartender got on the phone and started dialing 911 when suddenly, the guy off the floor gets up and starts laughing hysterically!

My friend was extremely confused and still a little scared and asked what was going on, the other guy who was screaming said to her, “you gave this guy sweet tea…he HATES sweet tea!” he was still laughing at this point he then says, “we had to do something to get your attention.” Are you kidding me??? We definitely almost called 911 for you, you fucking idiot!!! When they left, they tipped her like $5 on a $59.00 tab and a note that said, “Get rid of the fucking sweet tea!”

Some people are just trash. These two guys wound like they should be thrown in a dumpster. Not only did they make this server panic, they probably disrupted and disturbed everything and everyone in the restaurant.
