Ben, a seasonal pizza delivery driver from Nebraska, shares a story with a happy ending. This is a good example of why you can’t always judge a book by its cover. Just when you think things are going one way, they can’t surprise you and go another. sure, he had to put a weapon in his pocket, but that’s only because he’s properly prepared.
Robbing Scenario Takes a 180.,I have taken a pizza delivery job for the winter, I usually work construction. Not the the point though.
I deliver for a pizzeria that is open until 4am and has a nearly 10 mile delivery radius in some directions, namely into the ghettos of Omaha, Nebraska
. Fucking obscene at times.
I am under the full mentality that black people do not know what tipping or gratuity is.
It’s 1 am and I pull up to an unlit apartment complex when I call the number on the tag. A white girl answers and says ‘they are out front waiting’. I see a group of 4 young black males apparently waiting for me. As quickly as I can, I shove the money in my pocket under the seat and put my brass knuckles
in my coat pocket(in the past month 3 drivers have been robbed
, never by a white woman surprisingly), so I am fairly paranoid. They all approach my car. I step out.
Turns out they are baked out of their fucking minds
and altogether pay me in 5s and 1s with a $5 tip on a $20 order, one of them even saying to another, give him another dollar.
I was flabbergasted!
I know this is a waiter/waitress centric forum, but you guys don’t risk getting a gun pulled on you. So show some love for for your pizza jockey. Bar tenders and Servers are my best tippers. I love you guys.

I am under the full mentality that

Yeah.
That makes up for all of the countless delivery drivers that have been robbed in black neighborhoods.
Next time he has to go to the ghetto, when it comes time to get out of the car he should leave it running with all of the windows down and every bit of cash he has out in the open on the hood.
I mean…based on this…it’ll all be there when he comes back, right?
I don’t think he implied this at all.
