Angela is a waitress in Northern Texas. She has a question that, to be honest, I’d like to know the answer to as well.
I’ve been waiting tables wince I was in high school. Now, 3 years employed in the service industry, I have a question about black people that I’ve never had the courage to ask. Why do black people like fruit punch so much?
To go along with the fruit punch questions, are these questions:
- Why do black people think every restaurant has fruit punch?
Not a single restaurant that I’ve worked at (3) has ever had fruit punch as a drink option.- When I tell you we don’t have fruit punch, why is your next choice always some variety of lemonade?
- If we have neither fruit punch OR lemonde, why is your next choice always sweet tea?
- If don’t have fruit punch, lemonade, or sweet tea, why do you have to huff and puff?
Thanks. That is all.
I have noticed this trend as well. I really don’t know the answer. I mean, maybe Dave Chappelle was right?

Just because you don’t think or feel those comments are racist, doesn’t mean they aren’t. They love those drinks because its what they grew up on and it was all they could afford. If you like something, you will buy again right? Did ever think that they don’t tip you because of they didn’t like your service as a waiter? Maybe you should re-evaluate yourselves before you post comments like this. It’s white people like you who give us a bad reputation. I’m. Surprised nobody has come across this and reported this. This is disgusting! I’m pretty sure they have questions about white people as well. I was raised by a black family that was low income and I had friends like you that made me want to kick you in the face over your insensitive, sheltered ass comments. Why don’t you volunteer in their neighborhoods to get a taste of what life is like and then comeback and read these stupid ass posts and see if you have the same opinions.
I grew up on welfare until the age of 11, then I went through middle school and high school living in an apartment with a single mom and my older brother. We didn’t grow up eating a constant stream of sugar snacks, sugar drinks and other junk. We had water, tea, milk and juices. We were taught how to eat healthy, balanced meals. Sure, we had commodities in the house that certainly weren’t healthy, but we also were raised on balance. Just because my mom only had a fixed amount of food stamps and commodities doesn’t mean she bought crates of sugar drinks and snack cakes for us.
In addition, I was the only white kid in most of my classes. So, you figure from 1st grade through 5th grade, I grew up with poor, black, New Orleans kids. I’ve been in their shoes. They’ve also stolen mine
This is not a racist issue. I’ve been in the service industry for 12 years. I’m only 25. I’ve seen everything. I’ve worked in every single aspect as far as front of the house. I’ve waited on hundreds of black people and several different restaurants, bars, pubs, country clubs. You name it.
I have two questions that are obviously impossible to answer, because I have yet to find one! Ridiculous. Why do blacks not tip for shit?? Hmmm?? I have NEVER received a 20% tip from a black person. Even from my regulars that insisted I took care of them every single time. If I wasn’t working, they would leave. The best tip I got from them was 15% which is outstanding for a black couple. What gives??? Why do they not tip?? Is it because I’m white?? No, because my black co-workers feel the same exact way. When a black family sits in my section I KNOW for a fucking fact that I will not get a proper tip and I give outstanding service. It’s very discouraging. But I still have hope that just ONCE I’ll get a proper tip.
Another fact, when a black family sits down, is that I know I need to prepare a round of STRAWBERRY LEMONADES. Where I work now, that particular drink is a pain in the ass to make, especially when you’re busy. Especially when you’re making several at once and ESPECIALLY because they suck them down like they’ll never have another drink again!! And of course they make damn sure it’s free re-fills.
I’m not being racist. I’m not referring to just a couple times. This literally happens 9 out of 10 times and it bothers the fuck out of me. Whyyyyy?!
Why do black people not tip accordingly??
Why do black people order strawberry lemonades every single time???
Can someone PLEASE answer these questions for me??
Thank you.
I live in Myrtle Beach SC. We just finished “black bike week” And now it’s senior week. Teenagers suck. No tip. I’m of the opinion that the better question should be “Why do they order their food off the menu, making you work harder and don’t tip for crap?” And yes I remember working at Chili’s once and they always wanted the strawberry lemonade. It reminds me of the movie “Still Waiting” when Chi McBride ( the black guy) said “Hey ya’ll got some kool aid?” I wouldn’t care. IF THEY TIPPED. One of my best friend servers ( black) said she hated waiting on them because they don’t tip and ask for everything. Why is that so? I hate that shit. I always give up my tables when they are rednecks, teenagers, old people, or black people. That’s not even racist. It’s just the truth.Wait tables in Myrtle Beach during “black bike week”. It’s bullshit how teens (white), old people, and especially fucking redneck idiots and their “sweet tea” will work your ass off and think they are doing you a favor by leaving you 3 bucks. OK I just ranted. I just found this site. I’m lovin it. (McDonalds theme)
Maybe cause most black people were raised poor in America. And since they were raised poor, there only cheap alternative to water was probably kool aid. And since kool aid is pretty much an abundance of sugar.. african americans are addicted to anything sweet. Which is sad cause the growing rate of type 2 diabetes is redunkulous in african americans alone. I too have experienced this serving tables. You should try being a barista lol. 99 percent of the time african americans order anything with white mocha or caramel. But the standard amount is never enough, its always 3 times the amount to make it sweet. Matter of fact, if they say it isn’t sweet enough, I triple it automatically without first suggesting it… that might sound racist, but every time they love it. And if its food they get, its a lemon loaf.(also hella sweet.
You’re not poor if you can afford to eat at a sit-down restaurant.
@admin: Every day we drink water or Kool Aid, but on special occasions(Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter) we drink Hawaiian Fruit Punch. Eating out at a restaurant is special so we order Fruit Punch. It used to come in 46oz cans at the grocery stores. It’s on the kids’ menu at some restaurants.
I’m Black. Fruit punch is high class Kool Aid:) So if you don’t have fruit punch, lemonade, or tea what does the restaurant serve? We can get water at home. I don’t always want wine or cocktails or beer with my meals. Next time I go out to eat I’ll have whatever the white people near me are having or better yet, I’ll let my server choose my food and drinks. OK?
You still didn’t tell me why black people love fruit punch.
This site is featured on the kkk recruiting website. Has been mentioned a few times Congrats!
Remember it’s not racist when it’s the truth.
Every table of blacks I’ve ever had:
*Walks up to table*
Me: “How’s everyone doing today? Welcome to…”
Them: “YALL GOT STRAWBERRY LEMONADE?!”
Me: “Yup, I’ll go get em.”
