It blows me away when I see all these middle-aged douchebags pathetically courting 20-something bartenders at my girlfriend’s work. These girls play these guys for concert tickets, jewelry, iPods and iPhones. some of the girls claim they don’t even as much as kiss these guys. I also believe some of them lie.
My girlfriend shouldn’t be in the service industry, but she is, and I’m sick of it. No matter how cool I try to play it, there’s only so much I can take before I look like a jealous boyfriend. Are there any guys out there, reading this blog, that know what I’m talking about? I mean, it’s bad enough having a girlfriend who has to smile and semi-flirt with these guys to get good tips, but now she’s starting to bring home gifts these dudes are giving her.
What I’d like to do is show up unannounced and make a point. She tells me these guys are harmless and I have nothing to worry about, but if the shoe was on the other foot, she would be upset too. Guys are fucking swines…most of them….and I’m not going to sit with my mouth shut while these guys put in work.
I wonder how she would feel if I started getting phone numbers of women (“only so I could call them to pick up the bike or other gift they were giving me”) or created a Facebook and had these “regulars” as “friends” on there. Bullshit.

I worked as a bartender for a year, and flirting with guys is one of the best ways to make tips. Most of the guys know it will go nowhere, they just like the attention they get for the time they are there. The way to protect yourself from the ones that aren’t content with just conversation and harmless flirting are to make a fake fb or to take their number but never use it, and to keep your personal information private.
One of my boyfriends spent every second he could at my bar to watch me and grill me about every guy i talked to and being quite upset about it, but never once complained about the money i brought home because of it.
It’s an acting job, and the better you are at it, the better the payoff.
I am a male bartender and do the same. Sounds like you have some issues to work out, possibly vis-a-vis your sexual orientation.

I hate to break this to you, but your girlfriend knows exactly what she’s doing, and it’s part and parcel of being a young cute 20something bartender. She flirts. She gets tips. The guys aren’t doing anything wrong – they’re single guys who see a cute chick.
